What is Botox?
Botox, or Botulinum toxin A, is a purified protein produced by the bacteria clostridium botulinum.

How does Botox work?

When a small dose of Botox is injected into specific muscles (by a trained expert in dermatology), their excessive contraction is prevented. This also prevents the formation of new wrinkles and smooths the old ones. The typical patient for this procedure is between 30 and 70 years of age.

What types of wrinkles can be treated with botox?
The persistent ones, because the movements of the facial muscles create wrinkles. Botox works by preventing excessive muscle contractions, and thanks to that, the deep wrinkles can be eliminated.
Wrinkles at the root of the nose give a “worried look”, while wrinkles on the forehead and around the eyes make the person look older than they actually are. With botox treatment, you will get a fresh and youthful facial appearance.
Botox gives excellent results in:

- preventing the deep wrinkles
- getting rid of wrinkles around the eyes
- correcting asymmetry of eyebrows or eyelids
- removing of vertical lines and forehead wrinkles
- treating the nose wrinkles
- eliminating wrinkles and furrows between eyebrows
- eliminating neck lines
- treating wrinkles above the upper lip
- eliminating the laughing stock wrinkles.

When is the full effect of Botox treatment seen?

The effect of Botox is visible after 3 to 5 days, while the maximal effect is obtained after 10 to 14 days.

How long does Botox last?
The effect lasts 4 to 6 months (depending on the skin type, age, and patient’s health). Treatment can be repeated every 6 months, and every time the effect is prolonged.
